December 5 - Christmas Bazaar

I believe I bought this ornament at the Christmas bazaar in Ocean City Maryland one Thanksgiving weekend.  I also bought some hand made items but I wanted to stock up on some inexpensive and small ornaments for our tree, which isn't so very big.
I love Ocean City in the winter.  It's a great place to go this time of the year when you want to get into the Christmas spirit.  Here are ten things you can do:

  1. Visit the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park
  2. See the rest of the Winterfest lights at the inlet  I especially like the one that says "Happy Birthday Jesus" (see photo below)
  3. Ride a bike on the boardwalk (so easy without all the crowds)
  4. Take in a Christmas Show at the O C Jamboree
  5. Drive up to Rehoboth and do some outlet gift shopping
  6. Buy decorations at Christmas Spirit on Coastal Highway or go downtown to The Courtesy Shop for some cute cards.
  7. Walk on the beach
  8. Celebrate with a nice dinner. How about Fresco's?
  9. Walk on the beach (pray for snow - it's magical!)
  10. Curl up with a good book and a cup of tea or coffee  Hit or miss in OC. If you find a good cafe there please let me know.  Personally, I like staying at The Dunes Manor and having tea in the lobby each afternoon.
Here are some photos from Christmases past in OC MD

Social Media Fast Day 1/2 I have been considering a social media fast.  Unbeknownst to me, someone I know was on a week long fast. She reported about how beneficial it was and I took that as a confirmation that this was the time for me. September 1 sneaked up on me and I had some commitments for posting some prayer requests, but once that was done, I uninstalled Facebook (my primary Social Media) form my phone. I can pretty well ignore Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn and the like but Facebook is my constant itch that I have to keep scratching. I came to the realization that I primarily use Facebook to feed my desire for approbation.  Don't we all want to be admired and respected?  Don't we often want to be right, to have a forum where others are agreeing with our brilliance?  LOL I'm guilty. I also realize the other downside of social media for me and that's all the political vitriol.  As much as I don't get sucked into it, as much as I scroll past...

Just a few more memories

There were a few photos that I didn't post on the entry about our trip to Boca Raton.  I'm sure I have a bunch more in various places. I figure we gained 7 pounds, 700 friends, 7,000 memories and 7,000,000 photographs. Video from Awards Night

Baseball Thoughts on a Winter Day

I can't stop thinking about baseball. I'm happy for the moment (winter and all) but it would be so nice if it were a hot August night and we were watching the O's at Camden Yards. So I made this video today. It's some O's game footage from personal photography, misc. photos (amateur baseball players), and scans of much of my Orioles memorabilia from the early eighties. I hope you enjoy it.
