Thank you, State Troopers

I was driving down I-95 today when an 18 wheeler merged on from an entrance ramp to an exit-only lane. I was one lane to the left, so I slowed down in order to let him move into a through lane. Once he got in front of me, I noticed (to my shock) that his back cargo door was open. The truck was for a food service delivery and was stacked full of boxes of varying sizes plus a dolly that didn't look like it was secured very well. I was momentarily paralyzed as I gaped into the trailer, wondering what would happen if he hit a bump or applied his brakes quickly. I thought of this stuff flying all over the interstate and the havoc it would cause with the rush hour traffic which was flying by at 55-75 MPH. I'm pretty much a slow poke on 95. I try to go the speed limit or maybe 5 miles higher at the most, but I took the risk of going 72 in a 55 mph zone in order to get in front of the truck. When I got next to it, I looked for a phone number I could call but there was nothing. I

The Big Apple

Lloyd and I had a wonderful trip to New York City last weekend. It was just full of small delights and big sights. We left on Friday morning, arriving in NY around 10:30. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. It's one of my favorite places because the location is so convenient and also because they have excellent customer service. On Friday we roamed around, getting the lay of the land and doing some shopping. We bumped into Tillman the skateboarding dog training for a Saturday stint on Fox. I got some stills and some videos. We had immense fun at the M&M Store and also walked uptown to Macy's to do some shopping. The weather was colder than we had anticipated and Lloyd wanted a sweater. Because all the summer merchandise is out already, we had a hard time locating any in Macy's except one that was ill fitting and not all that affordable. But we did buy some other stuff for the both of us. On the way back, I suggested we stop in a "junk sto

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone. This is such a glorious time for a Christian. On Easter I think of a verse that spoke to me many years ago when I was a college student in theology class: 1 Corinthians 15:19 "If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men". But glory to God any pity we receive is misguided. Verse 20 says Christ indeed has been raised from the dead! Here are verses 16-20 from the message translation. I'm so excited reading them that I am doing the Snoopy dance: " If corpses can't be raised, then Christ wasn't, because he was indeed dead. And if Christ weren't raised, then all you're doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever. It's even worse for those who died hoping in Christ and resurrection, because they're already in their graves. If all we get out of Christ is a little inspiration for a few short years, we're a pretty sorry lot. But the truth is that Christ has been rais
