The Big Apple

Lloyd and I had a wonderful trip to New York City last weekend. It was just full of small delights and big sights. We left on Friday morning, arriving in NY around 10:30. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. It's one of my favorite places because the location is so convenient and also because they have excellent customer service.
On Friday we roamed around, getting the lay of the land and doing some shopping. We bumped into Tillman the skateboarding dog training for a Saturday stint on Fox. I got some stills and some videos. We had immense fun at the M&M Store and also walked uptown to Macy's to do some shopping. The weather was colder than we had anticipated and Lloyd wanted a sweater. Because all the summer merchandise is out already, we had a hard time locating any in Macy's except one that was ill fitting and not all that affordable. But we did buy some other stuff for the both of us. On the way back, I suggested we stop in a "junk store" - one of those typical New York City places with tables piled high. We found a nice sweater on clearance for the unbelievable price of $6. Thank You, God, since we already have a closet full at home.
In the evening we went out to one of my favorite restaurants in the theater district, Ciro Trattoria. Good food and good service made for a nice evening. I was listening to the music and enjoying it when I thought "Hey, that's Casting Crowns, the Christian group". I noticed that all evening they played contemporary Christian music in the background. Nice touch for this Glory Bee.
Saturday we had tickets to be in the audience of The Mike Huckabee Show. What a treat that was for both of us, especially for Lloyd who really admires him. It turns out that Tillman was also there and this was the show he was practicing for. There were other interesting guests and we both to meet, shake hands with and have a brief personal chat with Huck after the show.
That pretty much concludes my account of our visit to the big city. You can see a video slide show in the post below.

Looking for Good Movie?

I don't go to too many movies.  It's a world I don't live in.  But I heard The Grace Card advertised on a local station and I think I'll check it out.  I love the title!  I love that it is about people who struggle, because we all do. And I especially love that it's about grace, God's grace.  Can't wait to see it Feb. 25.  Check the site to see if it's playing at a theater near you . Check out the trailer by clicking below and also the info on sending a Grace Card.

Well, I Never.......

I was shocked recently when a relative told me she never owned a pair of backless shoes.  I cracked up when I was in a ladies' room and overheard a young woman say "Personally, I've never  seen  a wrap-around skirt". And at the doctor's office the other day, a woman who had to be at least mid-twenties said she had pumped her own gas for the first time in her life just that day. So I asked some friends to send me one or more things that they have never done.  I wasn't looking for thrills, major achievements, or things we all dream about but never do.  I was looking for simple or everyday things that  we probably think most people have done. My personal contributions to this list are: I have never seen the movie "Titanic".   I have never been around a newborn. I've never ridden a motorcycle. Here are the responses I've received to date from others: Never used an ATM.  Never had an alcoholic drink (except communion wine)  Never been in a casino
