Shark Sighting

I saw a shark. And jumping over that shark was one Donald Trump, calling himself The Ringmaster and announcing that the circus was in town. Well, he was right about the circus. Celebrity Apprentice has hit the airwaves again. I am hopelessly addicted to any variation of The Apprentice (including plain vanilla, celebrity, and the British version). It's hard to watch a train wreck, but there are isolated redeeming moments that keep me coming back. This season Trump has separated the teams again into male and female. I don't know his reasoning but I would guess that there's less pretense starting out that way. No one is filtering something for the opposite sex. Women get cattier in a crew. Men get puffier in a pack. So here are a few random observations from last night's premier: Gary Bussey is a mess. His inability to turn off his cell phone was reminiscent of Blago trying to use his Smartphone in the last Celebrity Apprentice. Dione Warwick on the register? P...

The Weather in Fort Wayne

I bought a new phone today.  After much debate, I decided on a Droid.  It's a Samsung Fascinate.  I love gadgets and technology and I like to believe that I can pick up new things quickly.  And I can.  For the most part. As I've aged my eyes have become worse and even with a fairly recent pair of eyeglasses, I don't always do so well with icons.  Usually they are supposed to represent something but most of them appear meaningless to me.  I have this same problem with my computer, but with my droid or my blackberry, they are even smaller and more difficult to decipher.  But since I've been using a blackberry for a few years for work, I can get by.  I usually end up relying on position or color or referring mentally to "that orange box with the squiggles" which is in reality a symbol for a calculator. The bigger problem I'm having is with the touch screen.  This truly gives new meaning to the term "Fat fingering". I'm wondering if girly-...

Looking for Good Movie?

I don't go to too many movies.  It's a world I don't live in.  But I heard The Grace Card advertised on a local station and I think I'll check it out.  I love the title!  I love that it is about people who struggle, because we all do. And I especially love that it's about grace, God's grace.  Can't wait to see it Feb. 25.  Check the site to see if it's playing at a theater near you . Check out the trailer by clicking below and also the info on sending a Grace Card.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to 2011

Tomorrow is the last day of the year.  I looked back through my posts from the beginning of this year to see how I did with my goals.  I'm pretty happy with the personal goals that I achieved and the fact that I decided to tweak a few of them.  Life's too short to set too many rules for yourself. Here's my report to myself: Have a relaxing vacation with Lloyd and Ginger - Done!  We had a wonderful week in Bethany Beach in July. Buy a KitchenAid Stand Mixer - Done!  And I love it. Read through the Bible end to end - Abandoned.  I was finding that this was getting too rigid for me.  I may revisit it some day (maybe even in 2011) but I was missing too much. There were times I just wanted to dwell on three verses that we speaking to me.  I think trying to do it in a year isn't the answer for me.  Maybe just reading through it at whatever pace I need is the answer. Learn to cook some new, creative dishes - This is a sort of thing.  I tri...

Christmas Holiday Time 2010 Photos (Courtesy of Snapfish)

We had a great Christmas this year.  I was so excited that Lloyd was home from the hospital almost 10 days before Christmas!  His health has for the most part returned and we were able to have a quiet but fun time.  Ginger visited from NEPA and we had lots of sisterly fun, including a day trip to DC (many of the pics are from there).  Also in these photos are a friend, Pat, who shared Christmas with us and our dear cat, Wuzzy.
