Day 1 Of The Thirty Day Challenge

There are many areas where I'd like to change, things I want to do or not do.  I'm starting small with this 30 day challenge thing.  As Matt Cutts says, the small, sustainable changes are more likely to stick.  My first challenge is that I will start my day 30 minutes earlier.
Stop laughing.  If you know me, you know I am a morning zombie. I don't do mornings. I get up and stare at a coffee cup for a long, long time (gulping in between the stares).  I play games on the computer. I watch the news. I clean the kitchen counter. Then I play another game or two or three.  I screech into work between 9 and 9:30 because I have a 45 minute commute and I can't get moving until 8:30 or so. Then I have to work later and I'm not one of those people who abruptly shuts down when my 8 hours are up. Another 45 minutes to 1 hour home and by the time I get dinner on the table and eat, I'm not good for much.
I want to start my day a half hour earlier. Who knows, maybe I'll work my way up to an hour.  On the weekends instead of dawdling, I want to get moving earlier and get things done so I can relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
So that's my big 30 day challenge.  I'll log each day that I'm able.  If I mess up, no condemnation, I'll just get back up and keep going.  I can do this for 30 days.  Is is October 29 yet?
This is a photo I took from my parking spot. It is what I call a "primo" parking spot.  It's another perk of starting the day earlier.  When the weather is nice, I often park far away so I can get more steps in my day. But today I had to celebrate with a spot near the entrance.
Woohoo.  I started my day a full hour earlier today.  That enabled me to go with my husband for a flu shot, drop him back home, and drive the 30 miles to work and still score this spot.
Okay I need a life.  Maybe I'll get one with that extra 30 minutes.  The possibilities are endless.

A Good Week for Geezers

The 75 year old Joan Rivers was crowned the new Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday. On The Biggest Loser show, Helen (who was constantly bemoaning her age vs. the younger people she was competing with) won the whole enchilada. She had lost a total of 140 pounds. And Jerry, who is 64 years old, won the $100K prize for losing almost 48 percent of his body weight. Even the Aussie who was on the show from Australia's Biggest Loser was 57 (my age incidentally). Does this give me hope or add pressure? I'm not so sure. But I'm just happy to know that it's not all about the twenty or thirty somethings.

Notes from 7/20 Bible Study - Things That Are Just

Philippians 4: 8-9 Think on These Things - Things that are Just These are my unedited prep notes.  Apologies for the various fonts - copy/pasted scriptures from various sources 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,  whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Intro & Quick review:         Thinking (logizomai) means to take an inventory of, count of, estimate, reckon.      We have discussed thinking on things that are true and things that are honorable and noble.         We have discussed why thinking these thoughts is key to fulfillment in our Christian...
