December 18 Photos

This ornament was in a stocking gift that Ginger gave me one year and inside it she put a photo of Lloyd and me that was taken in Williamsburg VA the year before.  This reminds me of how much we love photographs now and how easy digital photography has made it to quickly and conveniently take, view, and share photos.
Does anyone else remember these relics of the past:

  1. Film
  2. Threading film into the camera
  3. The new invention of film that just dropped into the camera
  4. Trying not to use up all your film in case you needed it near the end of the trip for that perfect photo
  5. Trying to use up the end of the film after the trip was over
  6. The excitement of Polaroids - no more waiting for developing film
  7. What happened if you didn't let the polaroid picture dry completely
  8. Flash bulbs
  9. Flash cubes
  10. Kodachrome when we finally got rid of black and white photos
  11. Those little picture books that some developers made
  12. Drive through film drop offs
  13. Mailing film for processing
  14. Photo albums
  15. Trying to get photos to stick in  photo albums
  16. Amateur darkrooms
  17. Negatives
  18. Keeping all those negatives and seldom if ever using them
  19. Glossy vs. Matte
  20. Borders vs. no borders
  21. Manual cropping
  22. Unless you had a very expensive camera, no way to account for backlighting
  23. Trying to find uses for 35mm file canisters
  24. The smell of film
  25. Kodak Brownie Camera

A Good Week for Geezers

The 75 year old Joan Rivers was crowned the new Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday. On The Biggest Loser show, Helen (who was constantly bemoaning her age vs. the younger people she was competing with) won the whole enchilada. She had lost a total of 140 pounds. And Jerry, who is 64 years old, won the $100K prize for losing almost 48 percent of his body weight. Even the Aussie who was on the show from Australia's Biggest Loser was 57 (my age incidentally). Does this give me hope or add pressure? I'm not so sure. But I'm just happy to know that it's not all about the twenty or thirty somethings.

Notes from 7/20 Bible Study - Things That Are Just

Philippians 4: 8-9 Think on These Things - Things that are Just These are my unedited prep notes.  Apologies for the various fonts - copy/pasted scriptures from various sources 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,  whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Intro & Quick review:         Thinking (logizomai) means to take an inventory of, count of, estimate, reckon.      We have discussed thinking on things that are true and things that are honorable and noble.         We have discussed why thinking these thoughts is key to fulfillment in our Christian...
