Cape May Memories

I bought a beautiful ornament in Cape May. It has painted Victorian homes on it, just like the lovely homes you see when you walk down the street there. But it's not my Cape May ornament of choice. I rather like this one, a painted clam shell with a very faint picture of the sea. A ribbon is glued to it and beneath the rough painting it is written "Cape May 2011".  I bought it when we went on the Cape May candlelight tour from a young man who was selling them. He was a proud young man with an obvious developmental disability but he seemed really know something about the Christmas spirit, as he sold these items with proceeds going to his school..
It brings back to me the magic of Cape May and the lovely time we had enjoying the atmosphere.  It was a trip with my friends ("The Bees") to celebrate Christmas.
We stayed at a wonderful Bed & Breakfast called Beauclaire's.  We each got our own room, to which we added a few decorating touches. We  brought gifts and refreshments and did a "room crawl" the first night we were there after we got back from dinner at the fabulous Mad Batter.
The next day we enjoyed breakfast
and went for a walk, stopping to admire the many decorations of the season. After a leisurely morning we had lunch at The Blue Pig in Congress Hall.  Then we did an afternoon of Christmas shopping and a carriage ride around the town.
We followed our busy day with the Candlelight House Tour that evening.
After our host, Joe, served us a truly gourmet breakfast on Sunday we all went our separate ways with happy memories of our time together.

A Good Week for Geezers

The 75 year old Joan Rivers was crowned the new Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday. On The Biggest Loser show, Helen (who was constantly bemoaning her age vs. the younger people she was competing with) won the whole enchilada. She had lost a total of 140 pounds. And Jerry, who is 64 years old, won the $100K prize for losing almost 48 percent of his body weight. Even the Aussie who was on the show from Australia's Biggest Loser was 57 (my age incidentally). Does this give me hope or add pressure? I'm not so sure. But I'm just happy to know that it's not all about the twenty or thirty somethings.

Notes from 7/20 Bible Study - Things That Are Just

Philippians 4: 8-9 Think on These Things - Things that are Just These are my unedited prep notes.  Apologies for the various fonts - copy/pasted scriptures from various sources 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,  whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Intro & Quick review:         Thinking (logizomai) means to take an inventory of, count of, estimate, reckon.      We have discussed thinking on things that are true and things that are honorable and noble.         We have discussed why thinking these thoughts is key to fulfillment in our Christian...
