Leave the Happy Meals Alone

When I was a kid we didn't have Happy Meals.  We had sugary cereal with toys in it and Cracker Jacks with prizes.  I loved that stuff.  My parents didn't overdo it.  Maybe our family finances were partly responsible for that but I also think even if they had a lot of disposable income, they would know enough to not ruin my health.  As I heard quoted on the news earlier something like "Happy Meals Don't Give Kids Bad Food.  Parents do." I know we have a child obesity crisis but I have a hard time believing a toy in a meal is responsible for it.  Lighten up, people, it's a treat, not a daily staple.  The food police are using excessive force here.  Dumb dumb dumb.
Check out the Food Police website where the press release can be found.  The allegations they make sound ridiculous to me.  Here's an example:  "“McDonald’s is the stranger in the playground handing out candy to children,” said CSPI litigation director Stephen Gardner. “McDonald’s use of toys undercuts parental authority and exploits young children’s developmental immaturity—all this to induce children to prefer foods that may harm their health. It’s a creepy and predatory practice that warrants an injunction.”

Nothing OT

I belong to some online groups that are designed to share special interests like reading, cooking, travel, etc. Often replies to a post will get off on a tangent and before you know it, the subject is changed to begin with "OT" for "off topic". In some groups members or moderators will try to abolish off topic posts in order to keep down volume and to keep the posts related to the subject of the mail group. But it's comforting to know that nothing is OT with God. We can go to Him in prayer and pour out our hearts. We can approach Him about anything and everything in our lives and He listens. We don't have to have a religious formula for prayer. If we read something from a prayer book that's okay too if it expresses our hearts. But if the prayer is "HELP" or "God, I can't go on" or even if we lash out in fear or anger, it's okay. It doesn't change the way He feels about us. He loves us unconditionally. He is looking for us ...

Rat's Mouth sounds so much less appealing

I looked up the meaning of Boca Raton and I got a headache.  For example, here is an excerpt from Wikipedia:  " The origin of the name Boca Raton is disputed. [6]  In Spanish "Boca" means "mouth" and "Ratón" means "mouse" (not "rat" as is it is commonly mistranslated). However, in nautical terms the word "boca" refers to an inlet. The original name "Boca de Ratones" appeared on eighteenth-century maps associated with an inlet in the  Biscayne Bay  area of Miami . By the beginning of the nineteenth century, the term was mistakenly moved north to its current location on most maps and applied to the inland waterway from the closed inlet north for 8.5 miles (13.7 km), which was called the "Boca Ratones Lagoon." The word "ratones" appears in old Spanish maritime dictionaries referring to "rugged rocks or stony ground on the bottom of some ports and coastal outlets, where the cables rub agains...
