First Day of the First Month of the FIrst Year of A new Decade!

Things I love about New Years Day:
  1. A new start - a clean page, a blank slate, a new chapter.
  2. Anticipation - What will the year bring? What will I be thinking in 2011?
  3. Calendars - I love starting new calendars with their fresh pictures and clean pages. I like to flip forward through some future months and think about what I have to look forward to.
  4. Goals - I don't do resolutions but I do like to set a few realistic goals. This year I plan to have a relaxing vacation with Lloyd and Ginger, buy a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, read through the Bible end to end, learn to cook some new, creative dishes, not gain more than 2 pounds, take a class, go to NYC in the spring, spend some quality time at the beach with the bees, discover my portion in the Body of Christ, show appreciation more, clean up my home office, paint the glider and retro chairs, get more sleep, host a brunch, and pray like never before.
  5. Hopes - I hope that I, along with my friends and family all have years of good health and steady income and that we all remember how much we love each other.
  6. Knowing that it's okay to be a little lazy in the winter as we settle in and ride out the cold months.
  7. Reflection - I like looking back on the year we just left, browsing through the photos, remembering the good times, knowing that God has worked out everything for the good.
  8. Starting my TBR list for 2010 (A list of 12 primary and 12 alternate books of which 12 are to be read over next 12 months).
  9. Okay, this is shallow - new TV. Project Runway starts in 2 weeks!
  10. Hearing what others are thinking, planning, and doing as we start the new year.

A Good Week for Geezers

The 75 year old Joan Rivers was crowned the new Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday. On The Biggest Loser show, Helen (who was constantly bemoaning her age vs. the younger people she was competing with) won the whole enchilada. She had lost a total of 140 pounds. And Jerry, who is 64 years old, won the $100K prize for losing almost 48 percent of his body weight. Even the Aussie who was on the show from Australia's Biggest Loser was 57 (my age incidentally). Does this give me hope or add pressure? I'm not so sure. But I'm just happy to know that it's not all about the twenty or thirty somethings.

Notes from 7/20 Bible Study - Things That Are Just

Philippians 4: 8-9 Think on These Things - Things that are Just These are my unedited prep notes.  Apologies for the various fonts - copy/pasted scriptures from various sources 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,  whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Intro & Quick review:         Thinking (logizomai) means to take an inventory of, count of, estimate, reckon.      We have discussed thinking on things that are true and things that are honorable and noble.         We have discussed why thinking these thoughts is key to fulfillment in our Christian...
