I remember Labor Days of the past. When I was a child, my mom and dad would put my sister and I in the car and we'd drive to visit the relatives in Connecticut. I remember happy times there, splashing in the waves at some beach, shopping for new school clothes at Arlen's Department Store, or going to Holy Land USA. Oh, and there was Quassy too, Lake Quassapaug Amusement Park. We did some other quirky things like going to the dump with my uncle Joe (who always found the best treasures) or playing Pokeno in Auntie L's kitchen. While those days ended several years ago, the memories are still very much alive in my heart.
This year Lloyd and I had a quiet Labor Day. We rested and also did lots of yard work at The Hon House. Then today we went to Annapolis where we had a fun breakfast and did some strolling and shopping. We were home in time to beat the rush and relax for the late afternoon and evening. All in all a splendid way to welcome September and the last few weeks of summer and to celebrate Labor Day. Mike Huckabee said if you have a job this year, make this also a Thanksgiving Day. I couldn't agree more. Thank You God, for my job and for the work and income you provided for Lloyd all those years until his retirement.
