Just a few more memories

There were a few photos that I didn't post on the entry about our trip to Boca Raton.  I'm sure I have a bunch more in various places. I figure we gained 7 pounds, 700 friends, 7,000 memories and 7,000,000 photographs. Video from Awards Night

Rat's Mouth sounds so much less appealing

I looked up the meaning of Boca Raton and I got a headache.  For example, here is an excerpt from Wikipedia:  " The origin of the name Boca Raton is disputed. [6]  In Spanish "Boca" means "mouth" and "Ratón" means "mouse" (not "rat" as is it is commonly mistranslated). However, in nautical terms the word "boca" refers to an inlet. The original name "Boca de Ratones" appeared on eighteenth-century maps associated with an inlet in the  Biscayne Bay  area of Miami . By the beginning of the nineteenth century, the term was mistakenly moved north to its current location on most maps and applied to the inland waterway from the closed inlet north for 8.5 miles (13.7 km), which was called the "Boca Ratones Lagoon." The word "ratones" appears in old Spanish maritime dictionaries referring to "rugged rocks or stony ground on the bottom of some ports and coastal outlets, where the cables rub agains...

Did We Really Just Move to Florida?

We've talked about wanting to be in Florida for a long time. Now we are here. We know that God orders our steps and this step was a big one for us. A few bumps in the road along the way, a disappointment or two, a few surprises, and Voila! ~ We are now calling Largo Florida our home. It will become permanent late summer after our trip back to Maryland to get some stuff and to make future plans. Next year we hope to return to sell our home there but meanwhile it's in good hands and more importantly in God's hands. Here are some recent photos: This is me and my Bee gift from my Bee Friend In Maryland  Greetings from our front yard. We share the front of the duplex with a wonderful Christian couple.  So cool that they put out crosses.  The one on the left says "He is Risen!" Lloyd and Wuzzy chilling on the couch. Wuzzy is finally settling down.  Moving was traumatic for him.  Today, Living Hope Church had a wonderful surprise for us - a cake recept...

Challenge Still Going Strong

I'm enjoying this 30 Day Challenge.  I'm glad I made it easy this time although if you asked me when I started, I would not have expected it to be this easy.  I am in Day #8 and still staring my mornings earlier, almost always beating my goal of 30 minutes.   And I'm none the worse for the wear. In fact, I have more energy and I"m more productive. Yipee!  Nothing much to blog about and I have stuff to do but I wanted to remain accountable at logging progress because that will help keep me going.

Moving Along and Missing Mom

It's day 5 of the 30 day challenge to start my day a half hour early.  This is my first weekend in this new program.  I arose fairly early and by noon I had done a load of laundry, had breakfast, wiped down the counters, gone for gas and a whole load of groceries, put the groceries away, stripped the bed linens and had lunch.  Usually I'd just start moving around 11 or 12. Today I was reminded of one of my mother's sayings "Move along, Linda".  She would say that mostly on Sunday mornings when she'd see me dawdling.  How that "move along" comment would grate on me. But she was right.  We were on a time schedule and with a family of four and one bathroom, there wasn't much time to drag one's feet. Today is the birth date of that dear mama.  She's been in Heaven for since 1996 but I still miss her. I love her and I"m grateful for all she's given me. I'd love to have her here with me when I'm tempted to say one more "...
