Soft October Nights

I love October despite the fact that it is on the pathway to winter. October is a beautiful month. It reminds me of many joyous things. My mother was born in October on the 4th day. I smiled last week when I turned the calendar on her birthday and there was a picture of a bowl of pears. Pears were my mothers favorite fruit. I was thinking about all the things my mother liked: pears, the color green, a good cup of coffee (with cream), Girl Scouting, and studying The Bible. My mother was an awesome Sunday School teacher. She also had a quit wit and was frequently called upon to come up with a funny poem or essay. October also reminds me of color. The leaves on the trees change color. The sunsets are more beautiful than ever. The golds and maroons and purples of autumn flowers are cheery and comforting. Singing Along with Britt Nicole

Walk On The Water lyrics Songwriters: Crosby, Josh; Muckala, Dan; Waddell, Brittany Nicole; So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose? Your insecurities try to hold to you You know you're made for more, so don't be afraid to move Your faith is all it takes, and you can walk on the water Walk on the water, too I love this song.  It speaks to not being insecure, not just waiting for all the conditions to be right.  It calls us to take risks and to know that God has a provision for us if we just respond in faith.

People Watching at Dunkin Donuts

I had a bunch of errands to run yesterday.  On my way to the MVA, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to grab a bagel sandwich and a coffee for breakfast.  I decided to eat inside so I could enjoy one of my favorite hobbies, people watching.  In came a couple stocking up on donuts, coffee, and cold drinks.  I made up a story that this was fuel for a road trip they were taking, maybe going to the shore for one last weekend at the ocean.  As my sister would quip, they looked like they knew their way around a donut shop. Behind them was a clean-cut young man, very athletic looking.  I thought if I had a son, this is what I'd want him to look like.  He seemed at ease with himself.  He could be a doctor, a cop, a researcher, even an actor. Then he sneezed a loud ACHOO right out into the air, not trying to keep his germs from spraying, not reaching for the napkins at the nearby condiment table.  While I was deciding if I would forgive him this trespass, he ...
